Business or pleasure? Why do we have to choose?

“Business or pleasure?,” said the guy who was sitting beside me on a recent flight. “Business,” I replied.
But I got to thinking. What does that say about business? That it can’t be pleasurable? That we can’t have fun or have ease when we’re working?
Let’s face it, the old adage ‘put your nose to the grindstone’ involves blood. Imagine sticking your snoz on some sandpapery moving surface. Ouch with a capital ow.
Here’s to business AND pleasure.

Check out the video of John Nese owner of Galcos Soda Pop Stop in LA. Now here’s a guy who’s mixing business and pleasure.
I’ll toast to that.

I remember watching this video of the Soda Shop a while back. What a cool guy! The passion he has for his business and the quality of the products he puts on the shelves – is so refreshing!! Excuse the pun 😉
I actually thought of this guy the other day when I was at the BC Liquor store and an assistant was helping me choose some new beers are directed me towards the Phillips brand. It’s a small brewery on Vancouver Island – and they still deliver the beer in a little truck. So quaint!

If only everyone could find something they were passionate about – the world would be an entirely different place me thinks. I never get people who do work just for the money. As most people spend so much time working it’s gotta be something that lifts the soul (and I recognize that for some, who face marginalization, barriers etc) that’s a lot easier said than done but for the rest …..
Love the beer story. I believe this is the company – cool site and even though the history page is hard to read (more white space please) it’s compelling (it includes background on said truck).

Thanks for the reminder that business and pleasure can be one in the same!
